Gomoku: Five Stones in a Row is a board logic game for a pair of players. On a square board measuring 19×19 (in the classic variant) or 15×15 (in the contemporary sports variant) points, participants alternately position stones of two hues. The victor is the one who is the first to create an unbroken row of five stones of their color vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. It offers numerous variations, differing in particular aspects of the rules. The game is thought to have been devised in China over two millennia ago. Presently, the game is recognized globally; competitive events are organized based on it.
